Description
Introducing the Clark Steady Rest Booster—the ultimate solution for adapting a small steady rest to interchange and fit any larger sized lathe. This innovative booster allows you use a smaller steady rest on a larger lathe. For example, a 12 inch steady rest could now be used on any larger lathe.
Smaller rings are stronger
The smaller steady rings are lighter and will flex less than a large ring. Simply indicate the Booster height required (ranging from 1” to whatever you need) when ordering. Our precision-crafted booster will make sure your steady rest fit perfectly. Get one for each of your various sized lathes. Priced at just $85, it’s an easy way to make your Clark Steady Rest even more valuable!
Alignment Plate needed
The gap in the lathe bed is critical. Naturally you will need an alignment and an attachment plate for the larger lathe. The small steady rest will simply screw onto the top of the booster with 2 set screws. We will provide these screws. The bottom of the booster will need an alignment and attachment plate sized for the larger lathe gap size. Order these plates separately.
Calculating Booster Height
Determine the difference in spindle height between the larger lathe and the steady rest. We center Clark Steady Rest ring in line with the spindle of the lathe.
A Jet mini lathe has a spindle height of 6.25 inches. A Oneway 2436 has a spindle height of 12 inches. You would order a 5.75 inch booster (12-6.25) .
Here is how to adapt a Clark Steady Rest made for a Jet 16 to fit a Robust American Beauty. Order a 4.5 inch (12.5-8) Clark Steady Rest Booster.
Order the difference between the spindle heights of the steady rest and the larger lathe.
